Vedic Astrology (Determination of Time)

Vedic Astrology (Determination of Time):-

In India, Jyotish (Astrology)  is considered to be “the eye of the Veda”, the science which helps one see the life path. It is the mother of all other sciences. It includes Astronomy, mathematics, cosmology, omenology (something that is considered to be a sign of how a future event will take place), the setting of auspicious times, divination based on questions, and the interpretation of horoscopes.  Hindu astrology. Jyotisha (which means ‘light, heavenly body’) is the traditional Hindu system of astrology, also known as Hindu astrology, Indian astrology, and more recently Vedic astrology. Determination of Time was used in Vedic Astrology. Let’s discuss today about Determination of Time.

Present time falls under Kali-Yuga, which of 4,32,000 SouraBarsho. ParomAyu (Longevity of human) is assumed as 120 years. Another interesting fact, in the earlier times, determination of time was done in a different way (where, time used to be  measured by a Water Clock called Ghatika).

Water Clock

However, the time taken for human eyes giving  Ek Palak (single glance)= 1 Nimesh (or simply, Nimesh).

See how I derive step by step:-    18 Nimesh= 1 Kaastha ,  30 Kaastha= 1 Kala ,  30 Kala=1 Nakshatra Ghatika ( which is 24 minutes, as per Present Clock system).

So, 2 Ghatika = 1 Muhurta (मुहूर्त) , or, 48 minutes.    And Finally, 30 Muhurta = 60 Danda = 1 Day.

Remember readers, 6 Osu (Asu)= 1 Pal,  60 Pal = 1 Ghatika (or, ghati)= 24 minutes.    So,  60 Ghatika =1 Day.

Also , it is to be known, 60 Bikola (or, Bikol) = 1 Kala = 1 minute=60 seconds

60 Kala (or, Kola)= 1 Ansh(or, Ansho) = 1 degree

30 Ansho (Ansh) = 1(one) Raashi

12 Raashi = 1 Bhagn (RaashiChakra)

I hope, people willing to have a clear conception about the Fundamental part of time derivation in Vedic Astrology , would be content by now. Vedic astrology is completely dependent on a precise Time of Birth.  Inaccuracy in it might result in wrong  & misleading predictions causing much frustration. Birth Time rectification  is a tedious & lengthy manual process which is based on matching significant past events of your life with your new birth chart. From my next writing (topic), I will move into the deeper & more interesting part of Astrology, Lal Kitab ,etc. I wish you all the very best in life.
